Member of Parliament for Diego Martin Central Dr Amery Browne is calling for the immediate suspension of the police officer who allegedly shot teenager Ricardo Mohammed at a party in Chaguaramas on Sunday.
Browne said the investigation into the killing of the 17-year-old must not be another case of an investigation with no ending, no reporting, no accountability and no action. He demanded a thorough, unbiased and timely investigation and said he was “outraged” that the officer was still on active duty.
He said the fact that the officer was still on duty offered little comfort or confidence to a family that had been devastated by the slaying of their loved one.
Mohammed, police said, was accidently shot in the back. Police said the officer was struggling with a man who attempted to take his gun when the gun went off, hitting Mohammed who was a short distance away. Mohammed, who lived in Browne’s constituency, was buried yesterday.
