One month after journalist Marcia Henville was killed, a person of interest remains handcuffed to a bed at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope. The 39-year-old suspect is under 24-hour police guard. The man’s attorney Fareed Ali was unable to say exactly when he will be released. Ali said although certain information had been given to the suspect, he had not had any conversation with nurses or doctors regarding his client’s release.
The police have refused to let the suspect meet with extended family members but the man’s daughter was allowed to visit him on February 19 and a second visit was scheduled to take place yesterday. Ali said the suspect was “still in an advanced stage of recovery” after suffering burns to 27 per cent of his body.
Henville, 51, host of TV6’s Point Blank, was killed on January 24 at her home at Fidelis Heights, St Augustine. A post mortem gave the cause of death as blunt force trauma and multiple stab wounds.
