RSeveral people, including a Nigerian national, were arrested during an overnight police exercise on Friday in Central Trinidad.
Police also recovered a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol, along with 16 rounds of live 9mm ammunition at London Street, Longdenville, Chaguanas.
A 42-year-old man of Lamont Street, Longdenville, was also arrested and is assisting police in their investigations.
The police exercise, which commenced at 6 am on Friday and ended at 6 pm yesterday, was supervised by Snr Supt Johnny Abraham, Insp Terrance Williams, Sgt Toolaram, and Sgt Jordan and included detective Leeshen Hosein, PC Prime and officers from the Major Crimes Unit, Chaguanas CID, Central Division Task Force and Warrants Unit.
Police said the Nigerian, 37, was arrested on five outstanding warrants for trafficking narcotics. A 29-year-old man from Enterprise was also arrested for rape.
Four others were also arrested on outstanding warrants.
