The red motorcycle believed to be the getaway vehicle used by the men who murdered central businessman Mark Mohammed was found abandoned in St Augustine yesterday afternoon.
According to police reports, around 7.30 pm on Sunday Mohammed, 26, the owner of a car dealership in Macoya, Tunapuna, his wife Adanna Lalla, 27, and his seven-year-old son had just returned to their Ross Trace, St Helena Village, Caroni, home from a car show. They were then confronted by a gunman who stood on the driver’s side of the car and shot both in their upper bodies.
Mohammed and Lalla were taken to hospital where Mohammed died while being treated. Lalla remained warded in a serious condition up to last night.
Police recovered 12 spent shells at the scene and also recovered CCTV footage which showed two men leaving the scene on a motorcycle and a car also speeding away shortly after.
Police said the killing looked like a hit but other sources told the T&T Guardian it may have been as a result of a land dispute.
When approached at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, yesterday, Mohammed’s relatives said they were too distraught to speak. — JL
