The People’s Partnership should be looking for a new candidate for the marginal constituency of San Fernando West, judging from the results of the latest constituency poll.
The poll conducted in San Fernando West by Louis Bertrand of H.H.B and Associates exclusively for Guardian Media Ltd, shows that incumbent MP, Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan has a 60 percent unfavourability rating among her constituents. Although she is better liked as a person, that rating is only marginally better with just 22 per cent of her constituents giving her the thumbs up.
The poll is the second to be conducted in what is described as the battleground marginal constituencies, all of which have a history of narrow victories or swing voting. The first was conducted in Tunapuna.
The poll was commissioned by GML for CNC3’s new current affairs programme, On The Margin which is aired on Tuesday nights at 8 o’clock. Among the other findings that will be released on the show on Tuesday night will be constituency approval ratings for the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader; acceptability ratings for both in the job of prime minister; constituency views on which party is viewed as best able to solve the problems of crime, unemployment, healthcare and corruption; constituents’ outlook on the economy and their likelihood to vote, among other things.
The full poll will also be published in Friday’s Guardian.
