An alleged sex offender charged with having sex with a minor will spend the weekend in jail after being unable to secure bail.
Kadesh Hardeo is accused of having sexual intercourse with a girl, over 14 years old but not yet 16, on two occasions.
It is alleged that the sex offences took place on January 19 and 28 at Reform Road, near the Brian Lara Stadium.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington said he could not consider bail without a trace to determine the accused man’s criminal background.
His attorney Adanna Walker said she was concerned about her client’s health because he suffered from high blood pressure and had been ill while in custody.
She said he also complained of being ill-treated.
Wellington stood the matter down for prosecutor Cleyon Seedan to attempt to have the tracing done for the accused.
However, when the matter was recalled in the San Fernando First Court, Seedan said he was unable to get any information.
Hardeo was remanded into custody to reappear on Monday for the police to present the findings of the tracing.
