The Guardian Media Limited family is mourning the passing of employee Anne-Marie Revero who worked with the company for over 30 years.

Revero, who died yesterday at her home in Trincity, had been ailing for some time. She was an employee of the Guardian’s editorial department since 1981. Colleagues remembered her as a motherly, loving woman who always found time to listen to complaints and offer advice. Revero’s long-time friend Cassandra Pinder said she and Anne had been good friends since the day they met in 1981.

“We left the Guardian and returned and became even closer friends. In those days, whenever you saw me, you saw Anne. We were very close,” Pinder said. Arts & entertainment Editor Peter Ray Blood has known Revero for over 20 years and remembers her as kind, jovial and supportive colleague.

Saddened by her passing he said, “I admired her, not just as a colleague, but as a mother as she introduced me to her children and I watched the manner in which she raised them, always to be respectful of people.”

Revero’s colleague Phillip Matheson said Revero was the first person to make him feel welcome in the Guardian newsroom. “She was supportive and always ready with an ear to listen to any situation.” Another colleague, Marvin Smith, said Revero was a person who loved to laugh and had a very distinctive voice.

“She liked to watch a lot of television and loved to watch Digicel Rising Stars.” Funeral arrangements are still to be made.
