Two men were shot dead in separate incidents yesterday in the capital city of Port-of-Spain.
The victims were identified as 26-year-old Paul Noel and 17-year-old Zane Chase.
According to police reports, Noel was liming at Nelson Street around 12.15 am yesterday morning when he was approached by a gunman who shot him.
Noel’s body was found in a panyard nearby and he was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital by officers of the Besson Street Police Station and the Duncan Street Police Post. Noel died about an hour later while undergoing emergency treatment.
In the second killing, police said, Chase was found near his Clifton Hill, East Dry River, home around 6.20 am yesterday morning.
Chase, police said, had gunshot wounds to his head. No motive has been established for either of the killings.
For the same period last year the murder toll was 187. The murder toll now stands at 163.
Officers from the Homicide Region 1 are continuing investigations. —JLV
