One man was shot during a foiled robbery at a Ste Madeleine supermarket on Thursday night.
Noel Jones, 52, of Cumuto Road, Barrackpore, was shot in the shoulder as gunmen opened fire on the building housing the supermarket, whereupon the proprietor quickly shut the doors to stave off a potential robbery.
Jones was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he remains warded in a stable condition,
According to a police report, around 9.45 pm, two armed men were about to enter Chow Young Supermarket at Ste Madeleine.
The proprietor, suspecting they were bandits about to rob his business, quickly closed the door before they could enter.
The two men fired several shots inside the supermarket.
One of the bullets struck Jones, a customer, on his shoulder.
There were several other customers inside the supermarket but none of them was injured.
Ste Madeleine police are continuing investigations. (YW)
