My name is Giselle Williams and I sell fancy ales at a high-end liquor store.
I was born, raised and grew up in Laventille. It was very ADVENTUROUS. And eventful. Every day there was something to look forward for. I still reside there.
I spent most of my life living with my mother and large extended family. I lost my grandmother two years ago. But it wasn’t hard. I wasn’t really close to her. My family are fun, outspoken. If we have a little family drama, we all reconnect like nothing ever happened.
I've always dreamt of having a family of myself one day. A really large family, lots of kids...cause I just love kids.
I attended Our Lady of Laventille RC School, (then) Mucurapo Junior Secondary School then went on to Mucurapo Senior Secondary School. I’m currently furthering my studies at School of Business and Computer Science.
People outside Laventille view the area as being a ‘hot spot’ but I never felt unsafe growing up. Because I was ignorant. It varies whether I feel safe at home now. There are times when the environment can become very violent and then there are times when it’s like living in an upscale area. I’ve heard people from outside say it but I’ve never seen men with guns in their waistbands during the daytime.
Whether or not I feel close to my Moms depends. On a good day, yes! And, on a bad day, no.
On my weekend off, I usually catch up with family, friends and relaxation. I do read and my favourite is novels. My best book I ever read was 50 Shades of Gray. My best movie is entitled the Twilight.
If I could eat only one thing for the rest of my life, I would definitely want KFC! LOL.
I am a sales associate. I got into the field through… Well, let’s just say I know someone that knows someone.
A typical workday for me is having the ability to interact with customers and see to it that they are most contented and understanding in what they are purchasing. So basically it’s exciting and very motivating.
The best part of my job only happens when we do the wine-tasting for promotions. The worst part is when there is a slow day for the company and I have to sit around and simply create work ethics out of boredom. So, in other words, regaining zeal on a slow day, that’s what makes it worst.
When I have a bad hair day, it gets me down. LOL. I think all ladies can relate to that.
Even though most of the time I see a bright future, I sometimes worry about what would my life be like. But, at times, I feel I have everything figured out. I worry a bit because, well, you know the term expect the unexpected.
When I’m not in sweet T&T, I miss the freedom to do what you want.
A Trini is very spontaneous, outspoken, fun and, most of all, mysterious. Never a dull moment with us.
Trinidad and Tobago is a place I will always call home, its not just an island of 1.3 million but it’s a place where the people are free, happy...they are full of humour and enthusiasm. It’s also a place I will lift my head up high and boast to anyone that my land is a place of character and principles.
