Two residents of Danny Avenue, Endeavour, Chaguanas, are being detained at the Chaguanas Police Station in connection with the death of a Dominican Republic national. He died while allegedly trying to break into their home.
Feliz Jiminez Alberto Francisco was found dead outside their house after he tried to break into it at 1.30 am Thursday. He bore one chop wound to the back of his hand.
The occupants of the house told the police they chopped him on the hand to prevent him from entering the house.
They said he was speaking Spanish at the time. However, the District Medical Officer (DMO), who viewed the body, said Francisco could not have died from the wound on his hand. The DMO added that there were no other chop wounds on the body.
The police are treating his death as a homicide and have detained two male occupants of the house for questioning.
Inspector Sooker of the Chaguanas station said homicide officers were investigating other motives for his death.
The body was identified by a friend who said Francisco had been working in T&T for the last five years as a mason with a construction company.
