Oropouche East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal trained his guns on ILP leader Jack Warner as the 2015 general election race kicked off in Claxton Bay on Friday night.
The meeting held at Paraiso Event Centre was arranged so Pointe-a-Pierre foot soldiers could mobilise for a grand UNC rally at Rienzi Complex, Couva, on Monday. However, troops from all 41 constituencies arrived at the meeting hours after Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar rang the election bell.
Though he appeared tired, Moonilal did not mince words as he zoned in on the “UNC’s chief spoiler”—not the PNM, but Warner.
Accusing Warner of making political arrangements with the PNM, Moonilal urged supporters not to fall for that ploy.
“We have a spoiler, he take a pledge that with every breath in his body he will ensure that Kamla Persad-Bissessar is not the Prime Minister of T&T,” Moonilal said.
“You must be careful and do not fall for all this nonsense. Every night he coming with something. He saying they have a cheque, they buy a house, they rent a house, they give this one money and that one money. Ignore all those allegations.”
He also called on Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley to say whether he was in cahoots with Warner.
“Jack Warner want to come and support Keith Rowley. Tonight we ask Keith Rowley, is Chaguanas East being reserved by the PNM for Warner, that is why they didn’t put out a candidate there because they want to put Jack? We want Keith Rowley to answer if Warner is still his candidate to become Minister of Finance for T&T.”
Moonilal said Persad-Bissessar was the best person to be Prime Minister and that Rowley has “no vision, strategy or plan for this country.”
