Two weeks of surveillance by police paid off when a 29-year-old ex-convict, suspected of murdering a Chaguanas man earlier this year was arrested in Princes Town.
The 29-year-old man of Peter Street, La Romaine was held along with his 31-year-old common-law wife, a 26-year-old San Juan man and another woman, 26, from Cemetery Street, Valsayn. The murder suspect is expected to be placed on several identification parades this week.
Police said they got information on Sunday night that their prime suspect was heading to a relative’s home in Hindustan.
A team of officers including Snr Supt Irwin Hackshaw, Supt Zamsheed Mohammed, Insp Don Gajadhar, Princes Town CID, Southern Division Task Force and the Criminal Intelligence Unit found the suspects travelling in a white Nissan Almera along the Hindustan Road.
They told police they were heading to a birthday party but on searching the car, a .9mm pistol, loaded with seven rounds of ammunition, was found. Police said the murder suspect was also wanted for robbing a La Romaine store owner of over $200,000, and several other robberies in Princes Town and common assault in San Fernando.
He was also arrested earlier this year for similar offences.

Police are also investigating an attack on a Princes Town family who was shot at while driving through San Fernando on Sunday.
A report stated that around 7 pm, Barry “Monkey” Charles, of Buen Intento Road, who manages a recreation club in San Fernando, was with his wife and son in his green Ford Ranger pick up.
While driving through in Cedar Drive, Pleasantville two men in a white vehicle pulled alongside them and fired several shots.
No one was injured but the vehicle sustained several gunshot holes. PC Boodoo is continuing investigating.
Meanwhile a 21-year-old Moruga man was arrested for threatening to shoot a 53-year-old relative.
Police said the woman made a report around 4.45 pm and when officers including WPC Hassanali responded, they found the suspect in the house with a shotgun and a quantity of marijuana close by.
