Two men were shot and killed in separate incidents on Wednesday, taking the murder toll to 208 for the year.

For the corresponding period last year the murder toll stood at 225.

In the first killing, police officers attached to the Central Division say they are clueless about the motive behind the killing of 47-year-old Otis Murphy.

According to police, around 9.15 am, three gunmen stormed Murphy’s home at Todds Road, Chaguanas, opened fire on him, then escaped in a waiting vehicle.

The PH driver was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where he died while being treated.

About five hours later gunmen shot Leon Greenidge at a construction site in Belmont.

Greenidge, 30, of Green Hill, Diego Martin, died while undergoing treatment at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.

Police said around 2.15 pm, Greenidge was at a construction site at Blenman Lane with another man, whose name was not released, when two gunmen approached them and fired at the duo. The gunmen then ran through a track and escaped.

Police say they have no motive for the shooting. Homicide officers are continuing both investigations.
