Barrackpore police are investigating the circumstances under which Syrus Joseph was shot to death in his garden on Monday evening.
Joseph, 42, of Seeblack Trace, Rochard Road, was reportedly in his garden at Julien Trace, Barrackpore, with his two daughters—ages 14 and 12—when he was killed. Reports indicate that around 3.45 pm, Joseph’s daughters heard a loud explosion and on checking they saw their father bleeding from his chest. He died almost immediately.
Barrackpore police who were on the scene up until late yesterday were still trying to determine whether he was shot by someone or whether he tripped-off a trap gun.
In an unrelated incident, around 10 am yesterday, armed gunmen stormed a Chinese restaurant in La Brea where they beat and robbed the owners of over $40,000 in cash.
One of the victims was warded at the San Fernando General Hospital with severe head injuries.
La Brea police are continuing investigations.
