On March 10, Police, Fire and Prison officers continued a sickout action over stalled salary negotiations.
Acting Senior Superintendent, Tobago Division, Joanne Archie confirmed that absenteeism was a problem, but said the situation was manageable. She did not give specific figures.
"In Tobago, there is some level of absenteeism, however we have our contingency plans in place and all of the stations are operating on an adequate strength," Archie said.

The Tobago Fire Division is also affected, according to Assistant Divisional Fire Officer in Tobago David Thomas.
"I cannot say we are in a better position than yesterday, but about 50 percent of the officers have not turned up for duty."
Thomas said that the management systems allowed for the division to carry out their duties in spite of the shortfall.
Asked whether the high level of absenteeism was as a result of the call for "rest and reflection", Thomas said it was hard to say.
"There is a shortage but we cannot now say if the shortage is as a result of people being ill or other reasons. So when those persons who have not been at work indicate their reasons for not being here, then we would be able to classify."
