The Roundtable Group which first convened in 2012 with groups, including the Opposition PNM and labour bodies, holds a press conference today featuring former UNC frontliners, including Basdeo Panday who will discuss Government’s motion of censure against Opposition Leader Keith Rowley.
Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union’s (OWTU) Ozzie Warwick issued an advisory on the issue yesterday.
It stated the Roundtable would hold a press conference where participants, including former attorney general Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj, former Speaker Nizam Mohammed and Panday, “have been invited to make statements to the media.”
The Roundtable came into being in 2012 following the Section 34 issue.
Rowley at a public meeting in March in Marabella said he had expanded his legal team to include Maharaj and would ask Panday the next day if he was busy and if he “minded to take a legal brief.” PNM officials later said that was a joke... a “tongue in cheek” remark. (GA)
