Attorney Larry Lalla was among almost 50 people who collected nomination papers at the UNC’s headquarters yesterday on the second day of the distribution of papers to potential candidates.
Lalla, a temporary senator since May, 2014, did not reveal which constituency he hoped to contest.
He is a former High Court judge. Lalla collected his nomination form at the party’s headquarters, Rienzi Complex, Couva, yesterday.
He told reporters he preferred to keep the constituency he hoped to contest a secret.
“I prefer to keep the seat confidential for now. All I want to say is that I am ready and willing to serve my country under the leadership of the honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar,” he added.
Lalla said he decided to collect a form after being approached by members of the constituency he was hoping to represent and he expected to have a smooth transition into politics.
“I was approached by persons in the constituency who have asked me to submit a nomination. It’s a natural transition in the profession, from law to politics, as in our profession our duty is to serve people and our clients,” he added.
