The mutilated body of a woman found on Monday at an old tasker road in Ste Madeleine has been identified as Jennifer Hunte Madlum, a safety officer at Bristow Caribbean Ltd.
Madlum, 54, of Ragbir Street, Curepe, was identified by her husband Greg Madlum at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, yesterday where an autopsy is carded for today.
Police said he had reported her missing after she did not return home from work and checks revealed she did not show up for duty on Monday.
Based on the description given, he was called to identify the body. Up to late yesterday, he was assisting police with their inquiries.
Police said around 4.30 pm, an anonymous caller reported to Princes Town police that a body was seen lying faced down at the abandoned sugarcane plantation off the M1 Ring Road.
When a team of officers, including ASP Ali Mohammed, Insp Don Gajadhar, Sgt Ramjug, Sgt Ramlogan and Sgt Maharaj, arrived at the scene they found Madlum with a gaping chop wound on her face and several smaller cuts on her knees and hands.
She was also nude from the waist down but was wearing a company shirt and a bandana around her neck.
Police said the woman was married four times. They are also yet to come up with a motive for the murder. Southern Homicide Bureau is investigating.
