Homicide detectives are investigating the case where someone photographed the body of a man and sent an image of his blood-stained body to his relative.
The relative has identified the body as that of Derrick Salina, 32 of Ethel Street, La Romaine but police are unable to locate the corpse.
Salina, who worked as a security guard, was last seen on June 13 at about 8.30 pm at his home. He had reportedly paid $25,000 in cash to someone in a vehicle transaction and it is believed that his murder may have stemmed from that.
Police believed that his body could have been buried or dumped anywhere.
Salina was the father of a 14-month-old boy and his common-law wife is said to be about six-months pregnant with their second child.
The relative, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said about noon on June 14, a photo of Salina’s body, with blood partially covering his face was sent to a close female relative via WhatsApp. The photograph shows the body clad in a black vest and a rope tied around its neck with the head partially placed in a plastic bag. The photograph was confirmed by relatives to be Salina and a report was subsequently made to the San Fernando Homicide Bureau.
Salina had several matters pending before the courts, including kidnapping.
In 2007, he was charged for the kidnapping of 23-year-old Josanne Sammy of Pond Street in La Romaine.
Sammy was the then common-law-wife of used car-dealer Riyad Baksh, owner of R&H Baksh Transport.
She was kidnapped at about 2 am on November 27, 2007. The woman was subsequently rescued.
