Central Division’s Senior Superintendant Johnny Abraham and his officers have a breakthrough in the upsurge in gang activities in Enterprise, Chaguanas, with the arrest of three wanted men over the weekend. The suspects were held during a police exercise  which took place between 4 pm on Saturday and 2 am yesterday.

The men, described as “main players and shooters” are to be placed in a series of identification parades from today. There are approximately 30 outstanding warrants for each of them for murder and other crimes. A Glock 19 and a quantity of 9 mm ammunition were recovered during the exercise.

The Central Division’s Major Crimes and Divisional Task Force is working around the clock to restore peace and normalcy in the community. They are said to be working alongside members of the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) and members of the TT Defence Force. On Saturday four men, allegedly members from the Unruly Gang from Enterprise were also arrested.

The IATF joined forces with Central Division officers on Thursday, conducting patrols throughout the area, focusing on Bhagaloo Street, Gittens Lane, Chris Terrace West, Crown Trace, Boss Lane, Walter Lane, Boodram Street and Enterprise Street.

Last Tuesday, residents of Bhagaloo Street, Gittens Lane and Chris Terrace West spoke of their experience with gunmen coming into the area and shooting at them and their homes. On Wednesday, National Security Minister Carl Alfonso said he would sanction soldiers to go into the area, once a request was made by the police. On Saturday, soldiers were deployed to the area.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar made an impromptu visit to the area and met and spoke with residents.
