A former Special Reserve Police officer who was killed around 10.30 pm on Saturday by men pretending to be police officers was shot eight times, an autopsy found. Pathologist Dr Valery Alexandrov found that Ishmael Lewis, 41, of Ross Lands, St James, was shot five times in the back, once in the leg and twice in the arms. The bullets perforated his heart and lungs and all bullets, except the one in his leg, exited his body.
The victim’s younger brother, Hector, said the former officer used to visit the area where he was killed regularly. He said his brother, a father of two, was last attached to the E-999 unit before he left the service in 2005. Police said Lewis was at a friend’s home at George Clarke Road, Carapo, when they heard a knock at the door and someone shouting: “Police!” When Lewis opened the door he was shot and killed. Police said they have no motive for the killing.
